carbon cross forks

I am interested in using a surly cross check frame, or soma (burly steel frame), with carbon forks and disc brakes. I have found just a few carbon forks that are compatible, and under $500, I'm looking for something under $200. Does anyone use something like this that they'd like to suggest for me?

I recently had to replace the fork on my Las Cruces and had a tough time finding a carbon disc ready fork. The most common are the Winwoods which is what I ended up with, but is a little out of your price range. I'm pretty sure Redline sells one but I don't know the price nor I have actually seen it sold anywhere, but they list it on their site.

You're aware that a low-end carbon fork won't save you much in weight over a decent steel fork? Check out IRD forks.

i agree with the pope; look into a steel fork.

are you only going to run a front disc? or are you going to have disc brake mounts welded onto a surly or soma? why not run just canti's or mini v's and then you could perhaps afford a nicer fork....

lemond makes a disc version of the poprad, and the voodoo wazoo is also a steel disc-compatible frame.

It's $300, but super-nice.

Is it truly possilbe to get a bike that rides well/ ie raceable and safe and weighs in the 18+ llb for under 1500? I need a small frame whch may help. I really thought I could find something and the more I look the less likely it feels that my distinct preferences put me in the preposterously expensive for a lady that works in nonprofit business category. Blargh!! Every which way I turn it seems that I'm stymied.

What about the Winwood Dualist?
