Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I've installed a new drivetrain. Ultegra SL shifters, Ultegra 6600 cranks, Ultegra 12-25T cassette.

Thanks, it's an XTR Shadow left over from when I was running a wide ratio cassette. It still works fine with the tighter cluster cassette.

Yeah, that is odd, but honestly it should work well if you want to run fixed, since there are cogs you can bolt onto disc mounts. I wish the crank was 130, but only because I have a bunch of 130 rings of various sizes already around. Not a big deal otherwise.

Now I just need to start saving...

I agree the XT deraileur looks good on a cross bike. How about an XT level cross crank? You listening shimano?

What's wrong with using normal road cranks for cross?

MIN, that thing is totally sick, but I think I liked the eccentricity of your previous configuration the best.

An easy ring change from 44 to 46 and you'll have 46/34. Some guy at RBR's CX subforum did it.

the second ring is 32, instead of 34. anyway, XT cranks are also available in 48/36/26 configuration.

trying to use anatomic dropbar, switched to longer stem to compensate the shorter reach. also changed the crank with 50/34T external BB Sora (yes, I know, not a bling thing), all the 9 cogs are effectively usable now. polished the seatpost as well.

crappy cellphone camera=fail.

Last of breed

Just picked up my 2008 poprad - only a few left around the mid-atlantic so glad i got one. I rode this bike 2 years ago, couldn't afford it and have been dreaming about it ever since. Thanks to a good weekend selling old bikes/parts on craigslist and a few hundred off list (got it for $1200 even) i'm a proud new owner. I'm really happy i went with the canti over the disc version (after much deliberation).

I absolutely love this bike. It's so much fun to ride through the city, up the river, on the trails, etc. Great versatile ride. Can't wait until it warms up just a bit!

Hi everyone - new to this forum! Here's my Kuota Kross, which I purchased last fall for winter training/all round fun!

I'm running Schwalbe Marathon Winter 35mm studded tires, and they've handled pretty much everything except deep snow or thick slush.

In hindsight, disc brakes would have been ideal!

I've been debating with my girlfriend and son about bar tape color for my Poprad; my GF and I think black would look hot, my son thinks I should stay with the white. After seeing this pic...

Personally I think it looks best when the color of the bar tape matches that of the saddle. So yeah black.

And white tape on a CX bike is just silly.

Ooh, I didn't even notice the saddle. That's a Brooks... it looks pretty cool on the Poprad.

With all due respect to MIN's bike, which looks hot with the white tape, I agree.

white tape isn't bad for keeping up appearances - if that's what you're alluding to. i have fizik tape currently and it doesn't stain at all. it requires a hasty wipe down and it's just like new. previously, i have run deda and cinelli cork - those tapes somewhat stain but i like the look of dirty white tape. i replace tape a couple times per year with deda or cinelli because they lose padding and breakdown faster but fizik lasts at least a year, barring rips and tears.
