CAAD9 'Cross

I know on the new Cannondale cross bikes it's listed as a different frame, but in the 09 catalogue it was the same one (CAAD9 Optimo). I have a CAAD9 road frame and was hoping to easily throw on some tires and get some racing in this season. Is a conversion just out of the question? I'm researching tire clearance and all that junk but am I just getting my hopes up to a let down?

Throw me a line

I would think you would have tire width issues and brake problems, but fit the biggest tire you can and go for it! The CAAD 9 CX frames are a bit different.

Cross tires wouldn't fit. No canti brake bosses (or disc). They're made of the same material but that's about it -geometry wise.

The CX9 is a very different frame. The geo, brake bosses and fork are the key to a cross frame.

28s won't fit on a CAAD9 road frame.

I wanted to try the same but no such luck. Guess you have to buy a new bike.
