Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

If You Have Only One Set of Tubulars ...

Assuming no major changes in my budget, I will have one set of tubular wheels for cross season, with several clincher backups. What would you glue??? It seems that an all-arounder like Typhoon/Grifo/FMB SSC would be the logical choice (or Typhoon/Grifo rear with Rhino/Fango front). Then I could use clinchers like Jets for extra fast courses, and another set of clinchers with Muds or Fangos for not so good days.

I'm in the mid-south US, though. Conditions are usually pretty dry, pretty grassy, and pretty fast. So, assuming a roughly 50/50 split between Typhoon/Grifo courses and Jet/FMB Sprint courses, which would be the better call for the tubulars, performance-wise??? I'm not asking about specific manufacturers, more about all-arounder vs. fast tire vs. mud tire.

Obviously fitness and skills will trump minor equipment choices, but I really feel like tubulars make a pretty big difference in CX and want to get the most benefit.
