So, I'm considering a cyclocross race...
Hello, all. Generally, I'm a roadie, but have hit the trails a few times on my MTB as well (nothing super-technical). The only racing I've done up to this point is the occasional biathlon (& various running races). So... recently, I found out about a local cyclocross series in my area and am rather intrigued by it. (It helps that being female, I wouldn't have to pay the $15 entry fee -- hmm...) If I decide to enter a race, I figure I'd ride my MTB (since they allow them as long as you don't have bar-ends). Obviously, I'd race at Beginner level, but what would I expect with a race like this? Would the course generally differ for each level or is it the same course for everyone?
(If anyone is familiar with it, this is the series connected with Bike Authority. Has anyone here raced in this series in the past?)

the course will most likely be the same for all categories, the amount of laps or time of the race will differ though. Usually the Elite categories race for roughly an hour while the beginners (In our series at least, Emerald City CX series) will only go for around 30 minutes. It doesn't sound like a lot but believe me, it will be the hardest 30 min you've probably spent on a bike. Good luck & have fun!!!! Its addicting.

Attack it with a low stress mindset, have fun and use this first race to feel out the scene and get you in gear for the next. .
