Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". Choice between two framesets

So, I've narrowed by search for a new 'cross frameset down to two. They are, the Van Dessel Gin & Trombones and the Jamis Supernova.

Both frames are aluminum and have carbon seatstays and forks. Both frames take a BB30 bottom bracket and crankset and both have tapered head tubes. The 2011 Supernova has fork mounted front brake cable stop to eliminate brake chatter but the stout G&T fork is supposed to be extremely resitant to chatter as well. Each frame will cost about $1,100.

Van Dessel is a smaller manufacturer and has a reputation for making good 'cross frames. Jamis is larger and makes a much wider variety of bikes but I've not heard anything bad about Jamis or its Supernova.

If you have experience with either or both of these framesets, please let me know your experiences and/or opinions on whcih is best for cyclocross racing.

Thanks.

You are aware that ''Make'' is more a contract and design drawings, and specifications,
with a much larger contract filling Company that is responsible for manufacturing multiple brands ,
that is the reality in the current Bicycle business.

AFAIK both are fine framesets and choosing between the two should come down to personal preference concerning geometry, graphics, cable routing, etc. The G&T fork also has a hole in the fork crown IIRC.

When you start getting above $1000 you should look at full carbon frames, like this for example:
