Should I Buy this Bike?
New to the cyclocross world and like everything else I have a minimal budget. I have been looking at various online sources for bikes and having minimal luck. This bike showed up today:

No clue if it fits. almost a 55/55 you got a road bike? it a 56/565?
certainly a good build with more expensive parts than most people really need.
You going to race or just show it off to your bike friends?

it should i ride a 56 road bike. I am going to try and race it this year, but it will be my go to bike as I just got rid of my road bike and a few other projects bikes to fund a cyclocross ride.

Think of it as buying the frame, fork and components, which all look good. Plenty of steer tube left to adjust for fit. You should try to talk him down to around $650-700, as most people selling used bikes on CL will throw well used wheels on there; budget for the fact that you'll likely want to replace the wheels within a few months.

The Salsa La Cruces has a Scandium-Aluminum alloy frame. While Scandium tends to rust faster than steel, I have no idea what it does when combined with Aluminum. Most Scandium reviews boast about its great ride quality. However, any well-engineered bike should ride well, regardless of which frame material it's composed.
