Anyone switched from Eggbeaters to Candies?

I've raced Eggbeaters for a couple of years. No real probs -- they work. Every time I watch a race and see guys remounting onto Candies or Times I think that it must be easier to hit those pedals, tho. Anyone switched? Big difference?

I switched in the other direction... Candies to Eggs. It is easier to hit the pedal with Candies, but mine didn't seem to clear mud as well as Eggs.

i've switched, but not done any really nasty muddy riding since.

fwiw i don't find eggbeaters all that hard to catch and don't find the candies all that much easier. my reasons for switching had more to do with having more bikes than sets of clipless pedals.

unless i notice a difference before the season i'll probably switch back.

Can you feel the difference between having the platform vs not?

I currently ride eggbeaters and sometimes get a hotspot on my left foot on longer road rides. Have been considering either the Candy, Smarty, or Quattro. Or something SPD with a platform.

I switched from Shimano SPD to Candy and no hot foot on long rides.

How do you like eggbeater vs SPD? (Which Shimano pedal?)

there are times when i feel like i can feel a tiny difference, but it might be psychological. i've been lucky enough to never have had hot spot issues with eggbeaters, even on centuries. so i'm probably not the best guy to ask.

It's minor, but you also might have to take a dremel/razor blade/sawzall to the bottom of your shoes, if the Candy platform interferes with the tread pattern.
