Capital Cross Classic
Who's going to be there freezing their asses off with me? High of 31 that day.
What's up with you registering in the Cs Lithuania? I get crushed bad enough as it is, another fast rider in the mix isn't going to help anything.

im hardly a fast rider. jeff bahnson and the other cat 2s in the B race are fast riders. I dont want to get beat up by them.
you dont have anything to worry about racing me. Ive been struggling just to finish races for about a month now.

Hey, if you want warm sun and balmy breezes on a calm day, race road bikes. If you want the weather we're gonna have tomorrow, race 'cross.
Either way, I'll be there in along with 86 other guys freezing our asses off at 9:00 AM. Hey, MAC's a party no matter what the weather, and 'cross rocks no matter what the conditions.
I'll be on the blue and silver C'dale and wearing the Bike Rack DC kit. Feel free to come over and say hello.

I am going to register day of. I guess I get to start at the back. Yay! I'll enjoy that for sure. Racing with 100 people is going to be VERY different, and I'm looking forward to it. It will be my last race as a C.
Off to bed now. I'm leaving Charlottesville at 5am...

There are a bunch of photos on Flickr. I've got mine from the B race posted here: www.cxhairs.com/photos
I was having a pretty good ride and digging the tubbies until I stacked it near the barriers and bent my chainring guide. That course had some nasty bits and I crash out on the flat grass part. I'll be thinking about that for the rest of the Winter.

That was a fantastic race - I felt great and raced hard, kept getting caught up behind crashes though. That course is so much fun, lots of tricky parts but a couple of places to sit up and catch your breath.
When I got home both my tires were flat, I think my bike is telling me the season's over.
Hey, men's C results are up and there's a big DQ at the top of the list. What's that about?

Faber requested an upgrade and [claims he] didn't realize it was granted. He explains it all here: https://gayracer.blogspot.com/2008/12...-let-down.html

He was actually DQd because he KNEW he had been upgraded. On his same blog he even made an entry on Thursday saying he was now a cat 3!

I had an adventurous race. I lined up right at the back, and spent the first two laps scything through the field. Then a friend binned it on the off-camber, and I managed to sneak past the blockage. But... then I crashed going up hill on the short and steep climb. Oops. I had to spend a minute or so faffing with the derailleur to get everything back, and I lost a lot of time. So I stupidly set off at lunatic speed. Sure enough, I managed to crash on the off camber that lap. Oops. Anyway, I set off in pursuit of the guys in front of me and managed to catch 2 just as we reached the final straight for the last time. One of them went early. I got on his wheel and had to go left as a slower mtb appeared in between us. I nearly got him on the line, but I don't think my throw was good enough.
I had an amazing time. It was a great course, and I had my best race of the season. I think I would have been top 20 but for those incidents.

Updated results are posted. If times were reported by the officials, they are listed in the results. No time means we didn't get any on the official results list.

i had a pretty crappy race - showed up late, barely got to pre-ride the course (and my pre-ride felt super sketchy). despite that, i eventually ended up with a pretty good start leading a chase group that was following the faster guys that had steve, faber, morali, etc in it. then i bit it reallly hard in a turn and destroyed my front shifter and spent the rest of the race taking the turns at extremely slow speeds.
the wind was brutal on that bridge.

Tons of photos up on my blog from the race, including C Men's (mostly of myself), 3/4 Men's & B Masters, and B Men's race. Also pictures from the race venue, bikes, and riders hanging around.
Enjoy.
