Cylocross races or fall centuries

First-world problems...

Why, oh why must the century rides conflict with the race season?

Is this a real question? You can ride centuries anytime. Cross racing is limited & well... is a race. & it's cross. Snap out of it.

Yes,it's a bummer.

It seems many of the nicer supported Century Rides around here tend to overlap with CX season. I suppose that is to show off the fall colors as well as to not overlap the road-racing season as many of the planners & helpers, as well as participants, of these Century rides are also roadies.

But it is the CX season that gets to be the poor step-sister

If you are posting here you have already made your decision.

Pick the best of each. I'm gonna miss our first CX race to do Levi's Gran Fondo (though, I might?? do an away CX race the next day)

I'm skipping our first cyclocross race to do 6gap in Georiga. After that, I'm all in for cyclocross.

I'd rather do a cross race then a century.

Do a CX race in the morning and then ride a century to recover.

Option one- Pay money to go ride on public roads with hundreds of people, half of whom have no bike handling skills or idea of how to behave in a pack in an event where if you try to win, you just look like an over competitive jackass.
Option two- 40-minutes of intense racing in the dirt and mud where you push your body to the limits, then drink beer with your buddies while you wait to do another race in a different category and repeat… I know what I’d do.
