Trackstanding for the start?

serious question: why don't riders toward the front trackstand right before the start so they don't have to clip in. is it against the rules? it'd sure help you get a jump on folks..

Most probably can't.

Yes, one guy falls and takes down the whole row like dominoes. I bet it's not allowed.

jfmckenna 10-03-14 09:19 AM

It is indeed against the rules.

womp, glad i asked before i tried and got myself in trouble haha.. gotta try at it ice weasels or something though (aka, unsanctioned fun race).

... seems to require a highly crowned road to work the slope , on any freewheeling bike.

nah, ive never had trouble on flat ground. and if you know what youre doing you could even do it on a downhill while using the brakes and the fork's flexibility as a springload to provide uphill movement. and the low pressure in the tires would help considerably.

Some can do it some can't. I can do it all day on a track bike if it's flat but tend to need a little help with a hill on a road bike.

Don't.

It breaks the first, only and most important rule of CX racing:

Don't be a D-Bag.

If you have to ask yourself if you are breaking the rule, you are.

What if you fall over and knock down every one eles standing next to you, Waiting for the Start?
