9.01.02 Wow! September already?
We slept in a bit today, resting up after a long yesterday. David and I went to the bakery for some coffee and baked goodies to start the morning off right. I saw Christine there and met Rachel and Susan who were also visitors to the Island. It looks like they’ll be leaving the Island on Tuesday along with Miel and Kevin, and so will I. I met an interesting guy named Larry in the bakery. We chatted a bit about enjoying life. On our way back to Masset, David stopped to pick up some hitchhikers. David and Harvest were some funky dressed travelers who were performers. They juggled on unicycles. We talked for the short ride to Masset and David invited them to perform for the Governor General on Tuesday before we said goodbye. David put me to work cutting up rhubarb and separating greens from the stems of lamb’s quarters. We had a tasty lunch of salmon, veggie pizza, and salad with Brian, Susan, and Alisa. While I was finishing up on the lamb’s quarters, I chatted with Brian about his travels to Asia and particularly Vietnam. He had nothing but good experiences to relate to me and told me his plan to go back next month for about 6 months. He wants to also get some crafts to bring back and sell here in Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert. I finished off one garbage bag full of lamb’s quarters and then started cleaning up my BOB trailer bag and thermarest. I took a shower and did a load of laundry and by then, Miel and Kevin had returned from their day at Tow Hill. We all prepared dinner together, creamed salmon with peas and boiled egg over basmati rice. After the nice dinner, we went over to the community hall where they’ll have the reception for the Governor General. We moved around chairs and tables and made things look nice for the event. We were there until about 9:30pm and after finishing up, we dropped David off at his harbor B&B and went back to the beach cabin to crash. I laid out my bed and finished up some postcards and journal writing as I listened to the heavy rain on the rooftop. I am very glad to be indoors tonight!
Peace
Dave
