10.17.02 Seattle, Organic farming, trampoline, and disc.

I was woken up around 8am by Jessica. It was a little peculiar meeting someone for the first time like this but we soon became well aquainted as the day went on. After some eggs and toast, we drove out to an organic farm Jesse works on. This is another farm that distributes veggies and fruits weekly throughout the community. Jesse introduced me to some of the other workers and then we got into harvesting leeks, turnips, and beets. The sun came out shining after a foggy morning and luckily our work day was cut short after lunch. I played some hacky sack with one of my co-workers during our lunch break and also when we got ready to leave. Jesse and I bailed out on a plan to go hiking with a couple workers and decided to chill out and spend time at her place. When we got to the house, we were visited by a couple neighborhood kids, Mike and Jajuan. They wanted to jump around on the trampoline. After looking through some of Jesse’s travel pics of Jamaica, we all got in on some trampoline action. Mike did some crazy back flips but Jajuan wasn’t as comfortable. We had to deal with a small accident, Jajuan biting his tongue, but it turned out to be fine. After the trampoline, we all went out in a nearby field and played Frisbee for a while. It was a lot of fun. Jessica had a soccer game later tonight so we got ready to leave. We drove into town and got some fresh blended juice to sip on before heading to the park. While Jesse played her soccer game, I watched many other activities going on in addition to the soccer like rugby and Frisbee. The soccer was entertaining but I wished I could have been involved in some kind of activity to stay warmer. After the game, we went to the University District and got a great East Indian meal from a restaurant called Cedars. I ran into my friend Melissa from observing at the restaurant and we did a little catching up. I explained how I was leaving tomorrow and it was unfortunate we couldn’t hang out. After a nice dinner, Jesse and I went back to Kim’s and had some tea and conversation with Kim and Kristen. It turned out to be quite a nice day of fun activities in nice weather and I made a couple new friends. Before going to bed, I said thanks and goodbye to Kim and Kristen as I’d probably not see them tomorrow before I left. They had been super hosts and I enjoyed staying in such a cozy place during my time in Seattle.

Peace

Dave
