There was much condensation this morning. I laid out my rain fly to soak up as much of the rising sun as possible. Deer were feeding nearby. I fixed some oatmeal with honey and a spoon of chocolate and then packed up and left. After breezing through the small town of Manchester, I got into rolling cow country. Many fields were nicely fenced in near the roadside. I passed through some coves with some ups and downs. At Gualala, I got a lunch to go and ate it at the nearby park. I entered Sonoma County and the farm fences started to look fancier. I was enjoying the sunny day on the road. I passed small towns, built for either retirement or tourism. The coast was beautiful, rocky, and rugged. After Fort Ross, there were some intense uphills on an extremely windy road. The downhill was exhilarating, like an amusement park ride as I winded down the switchbacks. I rode some more hills into Jenner as the sun set and the big moon rose. I got some dinner ingredients and pushed on in the dark. Luckily, the full moon made it easier to see in the dark. I made it off the curvy narrow roads to Bodega Dunes State Beach. I found a good quiet camp spot and was excited to find out the hot showers were free. I cooked up some good food and enjoyed my meal under the stars. I did some writing on the back of an Annie’s Homegrown Alfredo box (ran out of paper) before bed and then called it one great day and one great night. (74 miles)
