It's an age thing...so I don't know how parking my bike at their place is going to work :-(
Again, I can't say enough good things about the Trek 1000. If you have a newer model, you probably have a carbon fork and seatpost with a Tiagra derailleur? Sweet. I'm all aluminum with Sora front and back. But for the price, it's a super bike.
Two summers back I solo'ed from Ottawa to K~ on my Trek. While it was an superb experience, I wouldn't do it again - alone. With no one to share the wind, my Trek got heavy in the last couple of hours. And the wind picked up around Westport. 8 1/2 hours of wheels turning, 10 hours real time. Picked up a nice tan though. LOL. I am seriously considering the OBC's Rideau lakes tour though. It has lots of support.
How often do you ride when the weather is fair? I'm fortunate that I can commute on my bike. Actually, I rode in today but the weather network changed the forecast on me last night. It looks like I'll be heading home in the rain. +8 though. C'est la vie. At least I'm on my wheels.
    Cheers.
Yes it dose have a carbon fork & seat post first time for any carbon parts for me. I’ve put 105 front & rear derailers on & a 105 double crank.

8 to 10 hours darn that is a long time in the saddle but if you have others around you might not be so bad? Too much for me my last longish ride was about 70km and wasn’t to bad & there were a bunch of us it did make it more interesting I could have gone longer I’m sure, but that was just how long the ride was.

Not as much as I would like but get out there when I can (I have kids & wife) so I do what I can. Also there is a great park beside me to ride trails on the MTB bike for quick in & out rides. I defiantly want to spend more time on the road bike it is new!

Yes the melt down is here so I’ll be happy to have fewer excuses. If you do bring the bike for sure give a heads up.
    Cheers

    kingston rides

I drive a truck toronto to montreal and back every day. I take my bike with me and ride whenever i have time. my favourite ride along the coridor is around kingston. the roads are very bike friendly with nice wide paved shoulders. I usually stop at the husky truck stop at joyceville and ride from there. great riding area

My dad used to ride that same area, along route 2 from Kingston, up Joyceville, left after passing the fire hall, and then left again to meet up with 2. I did it with him once. It's a very nice ride indeed. I don't know how anyone could go arong biking east of K~. :-)

Yes Iíve done some car rides from Toronto to Montreal a few times only to or from not there & back in the same day that would be a long day.
I have been through joyceville but not on my bike.
Iím thinking about joining the local velo club to help me get out & explore.

Must get bike fixed first. Itís being sorted out now! & have no idea how it happened?

Love Kingston.....My father was posted there twice when I was growing up and I would love to get back there, but right now I'm pretty close in Ottawa.

I've done the Rideau Lakes Tour;Ottawa to Kingston and back the next day(yes, back to back centuries) 15 times so far.

A back operation has put a stop to that the last couple of years but can't wait to go again.
Anyone thinking of doing it apply early(Feburary) at the Ottawa Bike Club Website, the ride isn't till June but it is that popular(Some sell their spots after regestering which is on the site as well)

    Go Kingston

The one thing here that iím getting use to is seeing guys walking around in full camo uniforms!

The Rideau Lakes Tour seems to be a popular one i have no plains to do it at least at this point. I just had a look & registration is open.
I think Treker who posts here is thinking about it?
Hope your back is feeling better.

Also I went to this shop last weekend wow a must stop http://www.ti-cycle.com/ nice stuff.

15 Ott-Kingstons? Nice. When you ride it, how many in your group? I suppose sharing the wind over that distance makes a big difference.

No RL Tour this year although it was tempting. I may ride O-K in late Aug or early Sep with my nephew who's studying @ Queen's. He's a MB at heart but picked up a sweet roadie in the spring to complement his training.

I did 50k in Montreal Tour de l'Ile last w.e with my 11 year old - what a blast cycling with 30,000 others. Weekend mornings have been cool here (Ottawa) so I haven't sprung loose for any centuries - yet.

For RLT (ottawa-kingston,kingston-ottawa) My "group" was : Me....there is a limit of 1500 riders,so some years I met up with a couple of the local club riders who were at my speed (medium tourist:25-30kph)and we'd get some miles(kilometers) in together...

Thankfully it has warmed up here! It was crazy cold for a bit.
I've heard of the Montrťal ride before from others, 30,000 that would be so cool to ride with that many in the streets.
Speaking of MTB's i hit Taylor kid - Collins bay rd trails for the first time this week that was a nice change form lemonie pointe, i'm sure your nephew has been there but ask him, a must go.

Hey Sweep. Did you ride yesterday (10/6)? I did my aerobic class then Holly and I set out for Bath. Less than a mile from my house I got a flat. I pushed the bike back and repaired it. We rode to Bath, ate and then decided to ride to the Picton Ferry. We then took the ferry into downtown Picton and turned around by the A&P. We stopped at Subway and ate before heading back to the ferry. We did 120.89 KM. What a ride. I noticed a few Treks in your color.

Wife & i did a road trip to Ikea in Toronto. But hitting Picton is exactly what I’d like to do. I no longer have the orange trek, the frame cracked! It now looks like this.A 2007 with some 105 stuff on it.

Looks nice. Not sure which color I like more. The other was unique. How did the other one crack?

I too would like to know how your frame cracked. Usually frames are warrantied for 5 years or even for its lifetime. Did you get the same deal.

Why won't mine crack? Although I look upon my 2004 Trek 1000 as the trusted steed it is, sometimes one dreams... (of course I ride my Devinci on the w/e long distance rides)

I rode that Bath rode ride last year with a friend familiar with that route. Fantastic outing, although we turned around at the ferry. Amazingly she only consumed one bottle of water over the course of the ride while I finished four.

I liked the orange one as well but kind of like the all black a bit better.
So ya i got it in November did a couple of rides it then sat in the basement till X-Mas got a set rollers & used it on them for the winter so i really have no idea how or when it happened? I really did baby it!
so i took it down to cylepath showed it to Ashton he was a bit surprised but got everything sorted out no problem gave me a choice of the 07's & swapped everything over to the new frame. It took 3 weeks & no charge at all!
Not happy that it happened, but happy with the outcome.
You can see the crack it post 29 this page.

Last few weeks Iíve been riding down to Glenora ferry / Adolphustown, today i did HWY 2 out to Gananoque a good ride not as scenic as 33 but all good. A handful of cyclists out i think motorcycles out numbered cyclists like 20 to 1!

    Anyone up for an escort?

On Saturday, Aug 25, my nephew and I will be riding from Ottawa into Kingston on the No. 10-Perth Road at about 2PM. Anyone up for accompanying us for the last 50k or so? Weather's looking good so far....

Update: Not going to happen on Saturday. Maybe Sunday...

Treker hope you had a good ride to K-town today. I ended up doing the regular route bath rd but mixed it up by doing a loop via 33-6-2-4-33 got about 44km in 2 hours. I had a timeline.

does anyone here ride the trails at Collin's Bay and Taylor-Kidd? I spoke to sweep briefly, but have yet to see him out. I'm there pretty much everyday, it would be great to meet some more local trailriders. Anywho, if you see a guy riding a very noisey and ugly Columbia....say "hey". My friend also rides back there. He's on a red 2007 Gary Fisher Hifi...he usually has his dog running behind him.

Hey Joe! We just crossed paths (no pun intended) on Facebook recently.

Hopefully you, John and I can hook up a ride together before the end of the season. John and I were in the trails this last Sunday... We're running out of this fantastic weather!!
