Ha Ha the road bike is away for the winter & the winter has come early.
Saturday still is a big no go, Sunday the same! But i did ride to work today, not the best decision i ever made all ice it seemed riding home in the dark was no fun either.
I’m sure this will all melt away & not return till hmm mid January!

G'day

Looking for others to hook up with and get out and ride. Starting early for next year in making plans (gotta do something over the winter). Majority is offroad. Love McCauley Mtn. in Picton.

Really like to get some trips in next year to places such as Calabogie, Durham Forest, Kelso, Hardwood Hills and others. Definitely looking for others for local rides as well.

I am not much of a road rider but am commuting to work this winter and into the occasional trip in the countryside.

Give a shout if you are interested in same.

I am totally interested... Mind you, I am still pretty new, but enjoy riding just the same. We are going out again tomorrow at Collins Bay, if you are interested... I am really looking forward to a weekend trip next year somewhere.

Sounds good so far. Think it might be snow, not rain. I will confirm later in the week.

We are planning to go soon after this snow fall.. It should cover the ice nicely... My Bro got his own bike now (Trek 5700 I think it was) so he is itching to go somewhere...

Ya this snow is crazy, may be easyer with one of these!

Warmer temps are coming next week, in the teens i think!

Did a Google on the 5700 couldn’t find anything but i’m sure its a improvement from what he was riding!
Now its Joes turn.

I've still been commuting to work on my BMX...winter sucks, but I'm not going to stop just because of it

Great pic, I’ve yet to get in there with the snow, some time.

I got one commute in last week & next week looks like summer temps with a little rain so should be good to ride.

Besides i have the MTB so clean right now I’d hate to get it dirty!
Nah.

Are you guys spending more time walking than riding? Doesn't take much snow on the road for me to end up aborting the commute.

cross country

Hey

I am either going to buy a cross country type bike or build up one this winter with some parts I have kicking around. Any ideas on what to purchase or anyone have a suitable frame they want to part with?

Parting together a bike will kill your wallet; grab a complete bike I say.

Riding in the snow I hear you. I recently went down hard so the bike is not coming back out till it mostly goes away.

The last time I rode in the snow was 35 years ago. It was more of a trial to see how my 10 speed could handle in the 1.5" of new snow. I remained upright for about 15 seconds. Ouch. And yes, I went down hard too. It happened so fast. So, I'm a no-snow guy, mid-March to mid-November...

Which begs the question how the bike courriers here in Ottawa ride in all types of weather. Freakin' incredible Are there courriers in Kingston as crazy?

Funny thing was the roads were clear that day (+12 Early January) just caught a bit of ice & wham-o healed up, but a nasty scar on the chin.

Yep the couriers are crazy to ride 23c tires & some with no brakes! Ha Ha

Not sure if there are any here i live a sheltered life in the west end! Can’t remember last time I was downtown.

good advice

Good advice on the new bike. Checking the web and assembling from scratch sure adds up. Played around at Pricepoint.

Looking at a Norco Charger.
