    Bike rental in Toronto

    Hi everyone,

I'll be visiting Toronto for about a week next month for a conference. I'd like to get around town by cycling. Anyone have suggestions as to where I can rent a bike for a week?

    Thanks in advance.

That google search picked up these four choices:

    Downtown Cycle

    Address: 368 College Toronto ON M5T 1S6
    1 416 923-8189

    Toronto Island Bicycle Rental

Address: 1 Island Airport Toronto ON M5V 1A1
    1 416 203-0009

    Wheel Excitement Inc

    249 Queen's Quay West Unit 110 Toronto ON Canada M5J 2N5
    Send an Email (10) 1 416 260-9000

    Cyclepath

Address: 1510 Danforth Ave Toronto ON M4J 1N4
    1 416 463-5346
Of those, the Wheel Excitement one seems most viable. The Island one is for day cruises around the island park system, and the Cyclepath location is far from downtown. I work near the "Downtown Cycle", on College St, but I think they rent scooters...let me check it out for you.

    Where will you be staying?

Just walked down College St., and "Downtown Cycle" at 368 College does not exist...must be an old listing. The phone line is out of service as well.

From memory wheel excitement rents mtb/cruiser types of bikes, mostly for ambling along the waterfront on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I don't know if they do long-term rentals.

Yeah, I called them yesterday and they do rent by the day or week: $45 for the first two days and $15/day after that (is what I think they said). But you might be right that they offer touristy cruisers which may or may not be what the OP wants.

Well thanks for checking all those places out folks. I don't know where I'm staying yet but I think probably downtown. However $45 for two days sounds nuts. I'll just walk if it's that expensive. Especially to rent a cruiser. For $45 I should be getting a carbon roadie.

    Thanks again for your help.

I wouldn't give up on the idea without checking out a few other places...Toronto is a great biking town and $45.00 won't get you far in a taxi

Plus you won't have to wait for public transit and add some unplanned impulsive rides to your day

It suprising how much of Toronto you can see within a half hour ride

    have fun

Cyclepath near Yonge and Eglinton (conveniently located not too far from downtown and near the subway) does bike rentals as well. For an MTB it's 25 bucks per day, 40 per weekend or 80 per week. (416) 487-1717.

I think they said $45 (total) for the first two days and $15/day thereafter, which would be a lot less than $45/day.

    bike rental with CBN

You can also check out Community Bicycle Network at Euclid and Queen (just west of Bathurst). They are renting out their yellow bikes for $15 the first day and $10 for each day after. Plus they give a weekly rate of $50 or even will figure out a biweekly rate.

They've got bike trailers too. Small trailers for $15 per day. A large trailer for $30 - big enough to carry a couch! I've used it to move everything I own into storage.

You can reach them at 416-504-2918, www.communitybicyclenetwork.org.

A bit of history: the yellow bikes are what's left of the BikeShare program. They kept some to rent out.

New (since 2011) Road Bike Rental source in Toronto

I know how frustrating it can be to have to suspend training while travelling, or just not being able to enjoy road biking while on the road.

If anyone stumbles on this thread and is still looking for high quality road bikes to rent while in Toronto, I rent any road bikes from my fleet that have not been sold.

    www.tocycles.com

Rental rates are $30, $40, $50 per day depending on the sale value of the bike (these range from about $1000 to $2000).
7 days for the price of 5

9/3/12 Choice is currently very limited as I have managed to sell most of my stock. Email me though with your framesize preference, your dates and where you will be in Toronto and I'll let you know if I can help.
