Toronto/GTA riders: Don Valley Trail Open?

I posted this in the road forum - http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=292729 - but haven't gotten any bites.

Thanks for any help :D

EDIT: I've received some responses in the road forum. Thanks for any input posted here as well.

It's been closed for repairs to the Queen St bridge for the last year, which is a total pain in the $##%@$%#@$#@$. And Cherry St is closed as well right now, which means there are two perfectly wonderful trails that can't be ridden properly.

Their fiing them, these take time, it should be nice when they are open agian. Along with the gbravel sections on the more northern part of the Don Trail.

Cherry St. is open again, but you have to take Unwin to Regatta due to the construction on the trail area between Cherry and Regatta. No big deal. The bridge on Unwin is also out, but it's easy enough to get a bike over there - I made it over there with a trailer on the back, so shouldn't pose problems.

I hope they fix the Don path soon, I'm really missing the lower section of that trail, and I hate the process of stairs to get to Queen (no-go when I have the trailer on, too).

From Cyclometer (City of Toronto Cycling Committee on-line newsletter):
Lower Don Trail update

Toronto Region Conservation Authority, who are managing this project in partnership with Waterfront Toronto (formerly) Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation have advised that the trail will be re-opening to public access this July. Signage will be changed accordingly to advise the public of the timing.

The area in question is closed due to reconstruction work taking place on the CN/GO rail bridge which spans the Don River as part of a larger imitative dealing with flood protection. In reconstructing the bridge, the trail section through this area is being realigned with a new and upgraded section under the bridge. In addition, a new underpass is being constructed which will eventually link to the west under the Bala Rail spur. This underpass will not however be available to public use until development proceeds west of the rail line - e.g. there is a safe connection through the area to the St. Lawrence neighbourhood.

All parties involved in the project clearly understand the importance of this trail route through the valley and are working to re-open the route as soon as possible.
