amazing spring cycling weather

what an amazing weekend for cycling!

the weather in toronto was awesome for this time of year. got out for long rides on friday and saturday on the humber trail.

i started south of bloor and rode to weston road on friday and then rode from south of bloor to hwy 27, on saturday. both rides were up the humber path. i'm not sure how many kilometers it is, since i don't have a computer on the new bike yet, but i'm guestimating around 20 on the first day and around 30 on the second. i couldn't have done these rides without the winter of training on the trainer and without my new bike.

looking forward to many many more great rides through spring, summer and fall.

there were lots of other cyclists out. where did you go?

Great weather indeed. I rode around Scarborough (the gf lives out there), starting near U of T Scarborough and heading down to the lake and puttering around there. About 25km (this was only her 3rd ride ever, so I won't be doing too many long rides for a while), but it felt great. I never realized there were so many hills in Scarborough; I'll be going out there more often. Starting with today.

Took our two Jack Russells to the park in their new dog bike trailer. It was an amazing 28 degrees in Cambridge. Loved it! Today's only supposed to get to 16 degrees ... but still sunny.

Did 36 km on Fri - the first ride with short sleeve jersey, and another 25 today. I have now done 400 km since the season started for me on 4 Mar.

Were you out near St. Catherine's Friday? I was waiting for traffic toward the end of my ride and a guy in a Mazda waved as he went past.

Started my biker's tan on Friday with 140km St. Kitts to the Falls and back.

Temps hovered between 12 and 15 Celcius in northern New Brunswick. Had leg warmers on Saturday but went in shorts Sunday. It was nice and comfy in the forested areas, but crossing bridges was definitely chilly.

I loaded Saturday's ride on Map My Ride.

I skated outdoors through the Winter and it is wonderful to have the glorious weather so early in spring. Today I think I will head off to Mt. Pleasant cemetery and check out the blossoms in the trees.

Yes I was, and if it was a blue Mazda 3, it was me. I try to wave or give a thumbs up to all cyclists as we pass them. I am still waiting for my bikes and I am afraid the season will be at its midpoint before I get to ride. The reason my bikes are still there is a long story but it has to do with my move here from the US during a blizzard and not having the time to go down and get them.

Cheers,

Brian J.
