weekend vs weekday traffic

Do you find summer traffic to be worse on weekends or weekdays on secondary roads? I guess there's less business traffic during weekends, but recreational traffic is higher if weather is nice.

I'm pondering whether to do some longer rides in a weekend or to take a Friday off.

For some geo context, it's about Southern Ontario.

Thanks,

I just moved to the area and I see a good bit of weekende traffic around the Burlington / Milton area. However, I did move up here from traffic hell (New Jersey in the US) so everywhere up here is light traffic when compared to what I am used to.

Cheers,

Brian J.

Traffic is garbage basically all the time in this town with the exception of the middle of the night until dawn. I know dudes that do late night rides through the city because you can enjoy long stretches free from cars. I choose to get out at the crack of dawn on the weekends. It sucks to not sleep in but if I'm out the door by 8 (at the latest), I can get a decent ride in and still link up with friends for brunch by 11 or 12.

In my area (London, Ont), I see more traffic during the weekday than the weekend on secondary roads. Just a nature of the beast, you get the communters M-F and then the weekends are bit less heavy.

I find the weekend traffic to be much more relaxed than the stressed out workers who are driving home after a day at the office/jobsite/store...etc.

I'm east of the city and weekday rides are great between 8:00 and 3:00 during the day. Saturday and Sunday are pretty much a go at anytime. I'm spoiled though as we have roads where you can ride forever and see very few cars at anytime.
