St John Newfoundland road bike rental

I may be spending a couple of weeks in St John on business, and I would like to keep up my training while I'm there. Can anyone recommend a bike shop that can rent me a good quality road bike? I'm also open to suggestions on 30-40 mile loops for early morning rides.

thanks in advance. Jack

Steep, steep hills in St John's, so it should be fun. I suspect there would be loops along the coast and back.

What time of year are you going to be there?

But sorry. Don't know of a bike shop that does rentals.

Could be there in 2 weeks. I've already found a few places to call. Steep hills are great training!

Crazy steep hills in St. John's! I would suggest riding to Signal Hill and back, the road shouldn't be that busy.

Came across this link a while ago, hope it helps. Sorry no bike rental ideas.

You have to cycle to Cape Spear. Petty Harbour is nice too.

Be prepared for any weather. I left a Toronto heatwave for St John's one July. I arrived to temperatures around 10C, and the view from Signal Hill was fog. I think I saw the sun once, as I was getting ready to head for the airport.

No advice on biking.....I spent a lot of time in St. John's Looking for Icebergs, when I was in the US Coast Guard. It was a very interesting place. Beware of Screech though (type of rum)

Were there icebergs in the harbour? That would do it. I've been there several times, always in July and the weather varied greatly. Still, 24C is considered a hot day there. ;-)

If there were icebergs, they were far too shrouded in fog to be visible.
