Best deals in Southern Ontario? Which store?
Which store in Southern Ontario has the best deals? Would love to buy a 2011 or 2012 Cannondale CAAD10.

It isn't an oligopoly. The deal is the US does not always want to deal with us, and pre 08 most of their models said it was bad business. So they give representation deals to folks in canada who handle the biz in a small market with a lot of complexity, and large distances. That ads 30% on top, and if you have an option to paying that you should grab it with both hands. But if you need the services a store provides you end up paying for it. Basically it is the border. The border is a huge screw fest of consumers, and it isn't just price, it is product range and service, it has never been more expensive to be a Canadian as far as retail is concerned. Every time they fix something, like slow customs service, or duty, something else comes along to screw the pooch.

That said, I have had good luck at Urbane Cyclist. Not so much the prices being deep discount, but they will work with you. Like I bought a touring bike there, and they gave me a decent deal, then they discounted stuff I owned, like a leather saddle, brakes, etc... So my costs came down by those amounts. Plus they can build wheels as well as anyone, if you tell them you need them to last.

This time of year, if you're not sold on one specific model, you should be able to get a great deal on a suitable steed at nearly any LBS. Fall clearance prices easily beat U.S. prices, especially when you consider the cost of travel/shipping, duty, handling etc.
