Recommended routes for Toronto to Bancroft.

In a couple of week, I plan to try and cycle from downtown toronto to bancroft. There's a bunch of different ways to drive it, so am looking for thoughts on best cycling routes - including whether to go east on Lake Ontario as far as possible before heading north or starting out north of Toronto and trying to catch the oakridge moraine or something along there. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I live in Oakville. I haven't done the ride towards Bancroft but have been around the lake. The nice part of the ride taking the lake route starts around Port Hope, so maybe going more direct is better. I put the start and end point into MyCycleTour and got a route that looks pretty good. Not sure about getting out of Toronto along the Don Valley (no, not the Parkway) but the rest looks really good. Quite a few bike routes. You can see the route here: Cycle Toronto - Bancroft (CA-ON) | Route 258 | MyCycleTour Looks like about three days if you do 75K per day. A few hills but not bad.
