Toronto Cycling App

Is anybody here still using the Toronto Cycling App? The App on my smartphone hasn't been submitting my trips in the past week. So I'm wondering if it's still working or the people at Toronto are still collecting?

I don't have a data plan. Throughout 2014 it's been submitting my trips through wi-fi.

There was a bug in the app. The developer fixed it and trips are uploading again.

I stopped uploading after about 20 uploads during the summer for my commute to work/home.

Have you seen any of the data collected?

I am curious to see how many other riders are around my neighbourhood (NY Centre) commuting into the downtown core.

Here's a link where you can download data collected in excel spreadsheets.

Bicycle Counts - Data catalogue - Open Data | City of Toronto

I'm afraid there's nothing for North York or the other suburbs, which is why it's so important for me to make my mark and record as much as I can. I live in Don Mills.

I didn't see anything for the data collected from the "Toronto Cycling" app. I see only "bike counts" where the bicycle has to roll over the tubes. You will never see "bike count" data in NY or Don Mills unless there is a dedicated bike lane.

I'll inquire with the administrator of this program.

Just received a reply from the project lead, Sibel Sarper. They will be working on data cleanzing and analysis and will be posting the results in the spring around March.

Although I'm from Toronto, I never heard of this app but I'm confident Strava is way better.

I'm sure it is but the Toronto Cycling App is used by the city to plan bicycle infrastructure. So if you bike a lot or want to bike more but feel your routes should be more bike-friendly, use the app to be heard.
