Bionx - what kind of range are you getting?

I've had my Bionx system for about 3 weeks now. I love it! I've used it for a few longer rides, but mostly for commuting. I don't believe that I have really pushed this system yet. My longest ride was 28 miles. It included some hills. I've done the same ride twice. The most system demanding ride included most of the ride in assist levels 3 & 4 (most assist.) I finished the ride with about 35 percent of the juice left in the battery.

My Bionx system is teh S350 DV and includes the 48V 11.6ah battery (555 watt hours.) The technical specs say that the battery can last "up to" 80 miles. This might be correct if you are on level ground, no head wind, and weigh 160 lbs and not carrying any extra weight on the bike. I'm 225 lbs, and I usually carry and extra 10-30 lbs of gear when I'm commuting. Based on my 28 mile ride and the fact that I weigh more than the 160 lbs cyclist, it seems like the 80 mile range might be accurate.

My commutes are about 13 miles round trip. I come home with about 75 percent of the battery capacity left. It seems like the range is about 50 miles with my generous use of the assist modes 3 and 4, my 225 lbs, and my 30 lbs of gear.

What is your experience? Have you pushed the battery/system to it's limits? What kind of numbers are you getting? Is the range meeting your own expectations?
