Needing Advice on Picking the Right ebike Kit for My Requirements.
Hi,
I am completely new to ebikes. I am currently looking to buy a kit and I am seeking valuable advice from knowledgeable folks like yourselves before making a purchase. My budget is $300 total for both the kit and a battery. By the way, I live in a very hilly area, but some parts of it are flat.
My Weight: 155 pounds
Here is what I am striving to get out of an ebike kit:
Max speed desired on flat surface: 10-20 mph
Max distance on full battery charge: at least 8-10 miles but 8-10 is sufficient for my needs
It's ok if I go only 6 or 7 mph max up a steep hill.
I am looking to buy an ebike kit rated at 36v 500w. Is this sufficient for my needs? Here is the link to the kit that I am looking to buy:

Would you recommend this online store? I can't figure out which brand of ebike kit this is. Do you think it is a Chinese model? Would you recommend a Chinese model? What type of battery power rating is compatible with this kit or 36v 500w kits in general. What type of battery should I choose: lithium-ion, lead acid batter etc.? I am seeing 36v 500w ebike kits on amazon being sold for more than $250, but at the same time I see that rear wheel kits (for some reason) are cheaper than front wheel kits. The description on that page says that when I apply the brakes the motor in this kit will automatically stop running. Does this mean I have to manually restart the motor every time after breaking? Also, this motor operates at 293 rpm. Is it sufficient for my needs? So, is this kit worth buying?

Geeze, I don't know where to start. I would try going to bmsbattery.com or em3ev.com and seeing what they have. BMS battery has good stuff, but no customer service, EM3ev has better stuff and much better customer service. DOUBLE THE LISTED PRICES TO GET AN IDEA OF WHAT THE SHIPPED PRICE WILL BE.

Yes, china is fine as they have the largest market and some good quality stuff (along with some questionable stuff to I'm sure).
On regular size wheels (26" or 700c) a 200rpm motor will go about 16-17mph. The motor you have listed is going to be happiest at 23-24 mph, but I don't think you have enough power to go that fast. I don't see the controller specifications, so its hard to tell for sure. 24mph does not equal 25km/hr, so something is wrong there. The numbers don't add up.
Your battery is the biggest expense in an e-bike.

$300 isn't going to do it.
A basic/eBay kit WITHOUT the battery is a MIN of $300.
A basic/eBay battery (from China) usable for your needs is going to be another $300.
So figure at LEAST $600...

+1, and then, there are some good ones that are cheap, but I suspect most are not up to snuff... JMO

You want a min 36v 750w motor kit and a 36v 15ah lifepo4 battery...
That will give you 15-20mph for about 15 miles.
(Cost should be about $600-$700)
Or you could go MY route and go for a 48v 1000w motor kit and a 48v 30AH and go 20-25mph and have a 50 mile range..
(Cost is about $1200)
See double the price gets you faster and 3 times the distance
