amped bikes parts
I love my geared front wheel drive lithium powered Ampedbike yet I am curious how I can buy another one of similar quality or even replace the battery/parts when required. I have driven this bike 4 times per week 60 km for 7 months per year for the last five year and it is still going strong. Ampedbikes.com seems to have gone under. Does anyone know how I could find another lithium 36 volt tube tube battery or even find an alternative supplier? I would like to buy a similar kit for my wife. I know the BionX is very popular here yet it seems to be twice the price that I paid for the original Ampedbike. Thanks

BionX are at the top of the kit price range, but quality range too. Look at Dillenger for a reasonably priced plug and play system (I'm not associated with them, but have had good value from their 36V, 350w front conversion). You shouldn't have any trouble locating a battery, but you may need to change connectors. Just be careful; there are a lot of poor batteries for sale (by the way, it would help to know which country/state you're from).

Thanks for the help. I guess BionX would make the most sense for a new one and they are carried at local bikes stores. Moreover, I have noticed the BionX people on my bike path now pass me. The good thing is that BionX is owned by a car part company so they might not disappear rapidly. Do you know if there is a connector adapter if i change the battery?

Look at electricbikereview for an article on connectors. This shouldn't be a problem especially since you have access to an ebike shop(s), although it may require soldering or crimping. I think that BionX motors are assembled in Canada so that's a plus, and you have (very arguably) the best bike business in this field, ebikesca, in Canada.

DB - sorry, misled you; go to electricbike.com, technical (top of page); archives - April, 2015, then scroll down to "Idiots Guide To Connectors".
