What's the coolest e-bike you have seen?

There are so many different e-bikes out there. I love looking (maybe I'm shopping) at the options. Last week I saw my favorite thus far. It is a Focus Adventura speed 1.0.

It has some very distinctive features. Belt drive, hydraulic disc brakes, and Shimano Alfine 11 IGH. The guy at the shop told me that focus is thinking of adding Di2 shifting and possibly drop bars! That would be so cool! Great specs on this bike:

https://www.focus-bikes.com/gb/en/bik...-speed-10.html

Impressive range with the mid drive. 65-125 miles. 612wh battery. 28mph pedal assist.

https://electricbikereview.com/focus/...lse-speed-1-0/

I'm excited for future developments. I would love to see battery technology continue to improve to the point where you could comfortably take an ebike on tour and be able to ride in full assist mode up to 160-200 miles (tesla?)

Problem with, "what looks cool and is actually a good/great E-Bike for the price can be totally a non-starter with most people...

I can't see it ever being worth it to carry that much battery. Really, who needs more than 50 miles (unless you are doing a long road trip, then just use a Tesla supercharging station!)

I can get about 40 miles in a 2kg battery. That is pretty nice.

I would love to get much longer range for a bike tour. If I could comfortably get 150 miles at full assist on my e-bike, I would have already done a bike tour. It would be the perfect bike for such an adventure. Could you imagine getting 150-200 miles out of a battery that is the same weight as today's batteries that might give you the 40 miles you get now? I've never drained my battery. In fact I don't believe I've ever been below 25 percent. However, I had gone about 24 miles when I got down to that 25 percent... and I wasn't carrying a load other than the rider and I was not in the highest level of pedal assist for most of the ride. I'd be pushing the limits of the battery to get 40 miles at the highest level of assist... especially if I had any kind of load on the bike. It would be cool if there were more charging stations and that they were compatible with e-bike batteries.

As it stands now, if I were to tour, it would be credit card touring with my road bike. Very light load, eat at restaurants, stay in hotels/motels. Even with my limited fitness level, I would want to ride at least 60 miles per day on a bike tour.

That's pretty interesting. Do you have the solar panels? It says they weigh 17 lbs. That's the same as about two of my batteries. I think I'm just going to wait on some significant improvements in battery technology.

How many miles (or km) per day were you guys riding on your 850km trips?

Don't have those, but have solar panels on the camper/support vehicle so we didn't have to worry about where to plug in every day... Basically we did 100Km a day on the bikes combined, but could have easily done more except that wasn't the plan... Those folding solar panels are the ones I would have gotten if we were going without the support vehicle... Two batteries still wouldn't be the same because you still would need to charge them every day, so... A power source is a must IMO.

I looked at the specs on those solar panels. It said that it would charge a 600 watt hour battery in two hours? Doesn't seem right to me. It takes 4 1/2 hours to charge my 555 watt hour battery from the wall outlet.

I can charge my deep cycle batteries 660 watt Hr in 3Hrs from the wall but it can also take 3.5Hrs to charge up my BionX 422 watt Hr battery from a wall outlet... So it depends on the charger set up/design on how they want to "condition" the battery...

Has anyone ridden one of these.
https://www.stromerbike.com/en/ca/about-stromer

We have 3 dealers in the city and surrounding area now. Will drop in if I ever am near one.
Don't know what they cost but probably a arm and a leg? Neat looking bike anyway. And I guess they would be allowed in bike lanes?

I agree with you. At this moment these are the bikes with the greatest look. With a weight around 62 pounds i strongly suggest to get a front suspension. Don't try to carry this bike to the third floor ! It is too heavy. This is also one of the most expensive electric bike. I chose a ohm bike with the Bionx Technology because of the riability of the product. I have a retailer close from my home and they close only one month per year.I'm really happy. It has a lot of power with his 500w motor and a great autonomy.

These are pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of this type of video, but the Audi bike review (@ 4:00) , then the Stealth Bomber review were great.

This one looks cool and performs well:
M1 Spitzing E-Bike - Electric Bike - Motostrano

But this one would make a wonderful commuter and has great components and battery life for the real world:
E-Bike | E-Performance | KALKHOFF INTEGRALE S11 | 2016 | Kalkhoff Bikes

It has the sweet Shimano STePS system with electronic shifting 11-speed internal rear hub and Gates Belt Drive!

And this one will probably be my next eMTB:
Haibike

ADDED 1/1/16: Once someone figures out how to hotrod them for 28mph and increase the motor size to 750W's

The EV Warrior lives on.

The Coolest electric bike I ever saw was The 1996 EV Warrior with friction drive.
There strong and loaded with many features.
Turn signal mirrors, Twin halogen headlight, emergency flasher tail light, built in horn, 6 speed Shimano derailer and full instruments including speedometer, distance ,clock and the works.

This is not a kids bike as it weights close to 90 pounds.
Speed using electric only around 20mph.
Peddle and you go faster.
Range on a charge around 15 miles if you don't peddle much.
Yep, its the Buick of Bikes.

The bikes were only made for one year and sold only through Cadillac dealers.
Because of a price increase during order taking the orders were cancelled and the company went broke.
To Bad, they had a great product.
I bought 4 through a bankrupt sale and ride two of them constantly, one occasionally and the 4th has never been ridden.

They are 24 volt and use two 12 volt 18ah batteries.
The bike is heavy and takes the rough terrain with ease and runs very smooth on the pavement.
They have a lot of electronics , but they are bullet proof.
Being in the mountains of southern California they get their work out.
This bike was way ahead of its time and is still the best looking electric bike on the road.

Fat tire bikes seem to be quite popular these days, I see them on the internet and I see them on the streets. Here's one that has good amount of power, looks good and the price is amazing!

Check out these wild conversion kits and complete converted Santa Cruz MTB's:

Kranked - Ride Hard Ride Free

They implemented "MY" idea to move the battery off the bike and onto the rider using a magnetic cutoff connector. Just goes to show you that ideas are cheap, it's all about execution. And Kranked Bikes has executed!

Awesome setup for the thrill seeking big wallet crowd...
