any good kit with battery (or kit without battery)

that someone can recommend i got a bike already but i was looking at this kit but i couldn't find a good battery if anyone has something better could you recommend something??

Amazon.com : Aosom Rear Wheel 48V 1000W Electric Battery Powered Bicycle Motor Conversion Kit, 26" : Cycle Frames : Sports & Outdoors

i saw some people mention batteries but when i googled 1 of the batteries it looked like one of the batteries for my RC drone.

Your choice of rear hub motor is excellent for a direct drive system. Don't know where you're located, but if US, look at Luna Cycle for battery. You'll need to get an extra set of connectors for the battery and your controller. If you're frame is aluminum (assume it's 26" wheels), look at Grin (on Amazon) for a torque arm. Put 48V, 1000w into your browser and get basically same kit for less at accesseries or whatever.

48V packs at Lunacycle

2old 02-22-16 12:39 PM

They'll use XT-90 connectors for the battery-controller interface; they're easy to solder or crimp. FYI, I use a 52V battery for a little extra juice.

Forgot: Motor that I referenced is on ebay.

well i cant find a full package i need for my bike i thought just the set i had was good but then im told i need a battery well it shows a recomended for like 50 bucks or so but then you guys are showing me stuff i need thats over 700 more dollars

im getting confused here lol

2old 02-24-16 09:53 AM

You can get by with a lead acid battery that's inexpensive, ponderous, and not recommended. Luna Cycles has a battery for about $400 with charger (last time that I looked) that's more than adequate. Only way to save any more is to fashion a 36V system. Complete plug and play kit, look at Dillenger.

I'm assuming you're referring to the "Frequently bought together" bit on the Amazon page. That's not really a recommendation. It just means that a bunch of people have bought that combination of stuff at the same time. It doesn't mention that you actually need two of those battery sets to power your motor (each battery is 12V, $50 gets you two batteries and 24V if wired in series; you need 4 batteries to get 48V). It doesn't mention that they're just bare batteries with no wiring or way to attach them to your bike. It doesn't mention that you'll have to figure out a way to charge them. Also, lead-acid batteries like that are going to be really heavy. You're looking at 30+ lbs of batteries there.

It sounds like you're at a level of expertise where you need to do a lot of research on how to put this all together from scratch, or you need to buy a relatively plug and play kit and accept the extra cost that comes with doing that. Or both.

Edit: Possible kit for you. http://lunacycle.com/motors/geared-h...0w-front-rear/

Life's tough! It's your money so go ahead and spend $200-$500 without doing any research..you might be happy with what you end up with, but more likely not.

BubbaX 02-27-16 02:52 PM

ok so how are these**********

Amazon.com: 48V 20Ah eBike / Scooter Battery Pack - 6-DZM-20 12V 20Ah Deep Cycle Batteries: Electronics - battery
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...1&rps=1&sr=8-3 - kit

dilkes 02-27-16 04:08 PM

My 2 cents for what it's worth:
1. These are lead acid batteries
2. They would probably work
However:
3. You would have to carry around 50lbs or more of extra weight.
4. You would also need to come up with some kind of enclosure and a way to mount them on the bike
5. You will need a charger
6. You will need connector wires to connect these in series plus a means to connect to the controller on the kit

Some folks still use lead acid batteries on scooters where weight and space not quite as important, but very few on bicycles. While they have a lower initial cost than lithium, they will not last as long nor perform as well.

I would be looking at lithium pack, not these SLA's.

BubbaX 02-28-16 07:05 PM

fine this kit
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...1&rps=1&sr=8-3 -

and this battery

2old 02-28-16 08:28 PM

Bingo!

BubbaX 02-29-16 01:56 PM

So that kit and battery will be a perfect match**********

dilkes 02-29-16 02:22 PM

Designed to be mounted on downtube using water bottle mounts so assuming your bike has that, this should be a good solution.

BubbaX 02-29-16 11:50 PM

it may not but thats a simple couple dollar purchase

i first need to see if i need a ID or anything for my state cause it was a moped or a ebike kit
both would be awesome to have

Ebike Pros and cons:
Pro: Ebike i can ride on highway or anywhere
Pro: It is a bit healthy because i can bike if i dont want to use the motor
Con: battery doesnt go as far as a moped
Con: Can only be used in spring to fall weather

Moped pros and cons
Pro: Can go farther then a ebike
Pro: Can go faster then a Ebike
Con: May need a ID
Con: Cant go on highways with it (less than 50cc)

These are what i have to debate

Edit: I will go ebike because i dont feel like spending the time and money on something where i need a ID

48V 10AH Lithium ion Battery EBike Electric Bicycle Li ion Scooter Bag Charger | eBay

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...1&rps=1&sr=8-3

That battery with this kit does it work????

slo 03-07-16 04:51 PM

The ads don't say what connectors so you might need to change them. To make an ebike kit "work" for a while you need 3 things besides regular tools. Crimping tool, digital volt meter, spoke wrench.

The seller feedback seems decent so they should "work" ok. Being low-end sellers with no brand names or numbers you don't know how much power or how long it will last. Might be a cheap lipo battery which can burn down your house if you screw up.

You don't say what you want from a kit. How far, how fast, how many hills, how much can you pedal, total weight bike+rider... that all eats into power and range. 10ah is a small battery then if you push it hard and not knowing what cells are inside. If you're just going 5-10 miles between charges should do ok. hope this helps

BubbaX 03-07-16 05:34 PM

12 miles round trip at least. Between 15 to 30 mph. No huge hills semi inclines though. Enough to go e miles before leg gives out. My weight is 245. Bike no idea

slo 03-07-16 08:02 PM

A good 10ah would get you 12 miles esp if you can pedal some. An unknown battery like the ebay one might be pushing the limits. Looks like they are out of stock, He has a 15ah battery for $350. There are 48v ebay kits under $200 if your finances are tight you could get one of those and the bigger battery for about the same total cost and not push the battery limits, so maybe it would last longer.. i am not familiar with the under $200 kits quality etc.

also at 48v look for a torque arm better yet 2, good luck

BubbaX 03-07-16 08:10 PM

So i may or may not be ok with battery lets hope so

What about miles how far battery alone do you think is possible

The "problem" with is the "battery good enough question" ... is... Hills... how big how many? The speed you are willing/needing to keep up ... headwind, total weight of everything, how much effort you are willing/capable of putting into the trip pedaling... ? Time = $, Effort = $ Reliability = $...

BubbaX 03-07-16 09:25 PM

The places i need to go are all mostly flat highways or dirt roads even the slightest incline you dont feel them. And mg bike i will guess 40 lbs the kit is 20 or 30 and battery is 10 so roughly 340lbs total with my weight
