Expensive bikes with crappy motors are a worse excuse of a Ebike than a Huffy with good wheels and a motor that DOES make it up any hills with a much cheaper price tag and much better all around performance. It's a waste for ANY bike to ruined by hanging a overweight hubmotor inside of a wheel to bang around.
The turn at the bottom of this hill where I got the blow out is where the tourist got killed and the down hill bikes were banned. I support Kevlar belted tubless tires for any speeds over 15 mph after this blow out. I was lucky it happened on one of the only streight sections of this road.20 seconds later and you wouldn't have heard from me again.. Your loss that I made it or is it? lol

See, its the utter pigheadedness about your project and the fact that you denounce other styles as nothing but junk thats where the annoyance comes from. As for the "hub falling off", this is another reason you annoy me. Don't be dumb enough to laugh at a hub motor when you're using wheels made of tinfoil. We've already gone over this huffy discussion once before, and you shirked away from that one.

What do you thinks stronger, an Alex DM18 or the junk that comes on a bike made of recycled washing machines?

And do you honestly believe that there's *no* reason people should be buying hub motors, and that the only reason they're so popular is that everyone is stupid? Strangely, there are such things in the world as convenience, noise levels, reliability and simplicity.

In the end Hawaii, *this* is why i'm annoyed with you. You can build a motor, but you're absolutely clueless as to the application of the vehicle you're using it on, you've completely ignored everyone every time someone posts a video like the dirtmonkey, bikes going through lakes, or god forbid, bikes that *have a real world purpose*, and you have no respect towards cyclists in general. That day you came on here practically laughing at the touring businesses because someone died, for example.

I personally have done business with the guy in the last 4 videos actually, he's worked some real magic with those projects of his. Personally, I consider the superbike to be a lot more impressive than someone stepping on competitive cyclists who are trying to have a competition to flaunt his electrohuffy.

Your motor is not a hub motor? Where do you have yours mounted?

I will take my Huffy with my Mavic 26" rims with 2.25" tires any day over that hub motor crap. What is so special about running a BLDC motor submereged in water? Let's see a video of the dainty so called machines riding on the dirt with a HEAVY hub motor.

What i'm curious about is, why did you bother buying a huffy and then doing all of these adjustments instead of simply purchasing an entry-level that would've had the durability on all of the bike, instead of just the wheel? Would've cost about as much.

And whats so special about a motor doing that? Well, whats so special about yours? Yours climbs a hill. His pretends its a submarine. Cleverchimp's carries 400lbs of people + additional cargo and the weight of a bike up a steep hill with less wattage than yours. Heinzmann has a hub motor with enough torque to snap the bike if not properly installed. Crystalyte never needs to be maintained. Nano weighs in less than yours and fits on a folding bike, practically invisible. BionX has a no maintenance hub motor that weighs what your kit does. Cyclone/Elation/Currie style drives provide a good level of performance in almost any condition. Those are all accomplishments on their own.

So I ask you, what makes *yours* so special, in a world of specialties? Do you feel that your accomplishment is by far above that of any other designer? Is the Superbike traversing 140kms of mountains in 3 hours inferior? Can yours go through a lake? Can it haul an Xtracycle laden with 2 grown men and their gear? Can it go years and years without needing so much as a spot of oil, through wintery conditions? Can it fit on a folding bike? Is it quiet?

Don't get me wrong, I think your motor is cool. Your attitude is not.

He doesn't really know - just assumes his idea are SUPERIOR by virtue of narcism and his ability to spam boards with his endless rants against all things not to his spin. Kinda people I try to avoid in life - I would suggest y'all do the same. He ain't in it for the good of this community - ego tripping!

I'm actually curious to see a video of your bike in the dirt. Don't get me wrong, Hawaii is beautiful and the roads look nice, but the road tour isn't doing the demands any favour.

Can you do this for me?
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=YQcqHoRHF5I

If you do, i'll go do it for you on a Crystalyte. Chances are, i'll end up with a broken wheel and you'll end up with a broken neck.

Broadway, I wish it was that easy, but if I ignore him, he's going to end up misdirecting people who actually come on here, you know, looking for advice
As you said, he's not in it for the good of this community.

My point has nothing to do with videos. You completely ignored the last post I made, which was my point. Please go back and read it. Ultimately, the point is that you have nothing but negativity to offer this forum, and no solid contributions.

And the point of that post? Well, if you have no proof of serious off roading, why should anyone give it to you?

Over 400 lbs of people + cargo up a steep hill? Ride thru a lake? What? What motors are these? Where can I read more about them?

You can read about crap and BS all day!
Videos show performance only if you film the entire trip and what you are carrying.Long videos may be boreing but they do show true results. I still havn't seen any elevation climbs of a 1000 ft rise yet let alone on the dirt. How much real pounding on the dirt can a hub motor really take ?. A center mounted motor ebike can take as much abuse as any other bicycle on dirt roads or trails as long as the batteries are mounted securly.Heavy hub motors with short spokes can't possably be too strong of a wheel to take much abuse off road or up hills.

    Here you go, Saltydawg.
Those two motors in particular are the Stokemonkey and the Dirt Monkey's system. The Dirtmonkey is simply a Crystalyte dual speed motor put in a smaller wheel and a full suspension bicycle. Small wheels are strong.

    Stokemonkey:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...07362062&hl=en
This motor known as the Stokemonkey is able to carry more weight than even the Xtracycle cargo system can handle, up a great deal of hills, and with an efficient power draw. Its been known to be able to haul over the rated limit of the X's capacity, which is about 200lbs of cargo and a 200lb rider. Here you can see the system zooming up an incline with two people in tow.

If you want to know about what the Xtracycle is:
    http://www.xtracycle.com

    Dirt Monkey:
    http://video.google.ca/videoplay?doc...41791628409013
Oh hey, these guys don't seem to have disappeared after all! There are some new videos for '07 with their new model. As you can see, the Dirt Monkey's motor has been sealed to the elements, and rather seems to like this lake. I've done something similar to my kit to make it more winter worthy, although these days I prefer to just skip the e-bike in winter altogether.

I guess I could mention that the skewer on the Crystalyte is about twice as thick as those on my mountain bike, or that you can mount any spokes + rim you want. But its all Crap + BS, even after all is said and done, after all, isn't it?

Broadway, you're right. I'm just going to ignore him until he starts giving people bad advice.

    You still don't get it!

It's not your bike, technology or anything like that. It's your arrogance that turns people off. I'd love to chat with you about your tech stuff but I don't like people like you that go around telling the rest of the world that they're idiots because they bought the "wrong" bike. You know what? I got the "right" bike because I didn't deal with a prick like you.

    That's what YOU don't get!

And your 5lb smoking discs can't get Ken Trough up a hill. What's your point?

Have you changed your mind about your $10,000 challenge, or are you still afraid to race?

Get over it and prove you can beat my elevation record YOURSELF.A overweight hub motor bicycle would not ever be a challange unless you cooked all the girlscouts pancakes at the 5 mile point if you could even make it that far without getting arested in your illegal contraption...Ken or anyone else ever had one of my motors.Where ever do you get your false information from ? Lets see your 4 mile hill clinb on the dirt with a 2600 ft rise in elevation on vidio showing your 22 lb hub motor fall off and smoke..

Talk about driving threads off-road, through bushes, over rivers and toward the edge of a cliff... You already have ****tons of threads about your motorcycle, repeatedly spamming your **** all over the forum is just rude.

And back on topic, here's an MY1018 powered bike:
