Using desulfinator to increase SLA battery life?

I've heard of using these things for car batteries and others, but has anyone tried this for their bikes?

I'm going to take the plunge on this one. Check out my questions posed at end of stokell's post.

I also posted in a desulfator board and got a good response from the moderator:

I also posted in the visforvoltage site here:

https://visforvoltage.net/forum-topic...store-old-slas

I'm looking to buy a SLA voltage meter (multimeter?) to measure my progress. It'll be a long term test so it'll take a while, I figure.

My main motivation is that I don't want to have to replace my SLAs in 200 or so cycles.

Please keep us posted on your results. I'm still not totally convinced these do anything, but I'm willing to be open-minded.

Instead of one desulfator for each battery, could you wire the batteries in parallel while they're being desulfated? Or do you have to be charging while desulfating?

I'm still new to this, but I think you can desulfinate one at a time. While I'm still deciding on several products, I will hook up a desulfinator to one battery and not the other one. At the end of the test period (4 weeks), I will compare if one is better than the other. If I get positive results, I will do the other one.

I think you can still charge while desulfinating. I think the desulfinator is capped at 12V so hooking both up and desulfinating will overload the unit.

Will keep you posted...
