What's your range like with 36v/10ah?
 

I'm getting the ampedbike's 500w hub motor kit with LiFePO4 36v/10ah batteries from goldenmotor for my 26" mountain bike.

I was wondering if anybody else who has this or a similar setup and what their range is like with pedaling and/or without pedaling (and please mention if it involves much hills or not and your weight!). I've heard the speed is about 25mph with the 36v which is fantastic too. My weight is 170lbs and i'll have my bike ready in about a couple weeks, but until then, I am just dreaming and can't wait! :lol:

I weigh 200 lbs and have 2 large hills on the way to work. With a headwind I have to do a lot of pedalling to get about 25 kms out of the battery. Top speed is about 35 kms/hr with pedalling. Sorry I only do metric.

Manufacturers always assume the land is flat, there is a 40 km/hr tailwind and you pedal like Lance Armstrong when they make claims.

I'm only 130lbs but I also use a battery that's 240 watt hours. yours is 360 rated watt hours if it's rated 36V * 10Ah. So I'm 2/3rds the weight and have 2/3rds the battery.

With lots of pedaling, I would get 64km (40 miles). Running the motor at pretty much full throttle, (but with moderate-strong pedaling as well) I was able to go about 25km/15 miles, going 25-30mph between stops for traffic lights.

I use a different motor (cyclone) but I doubt that my motor's overall efficiency is much different.

Range is a very wide and complicated target. My rule for estimating lately has been to figure about 1 mi/AH. Sure - flat road, mild motor/controller, pedaling hard, no wind, mellow load, most eBikes can get 4-6x that easy.

But, you don't want to underestimate things do you? It sucks to get stuck with no power on all but the most advanced ebikes. My very efficient Panasonic can do 10 miles on 2AH. My hot rod, 500W, throttle bike, riding like I stole it will be lucky to get 1 mile from 2AH. Neither is fun to pedal with a dead battery so estimating worst case is usually the best way to approach.
