Ebay Electric bike kits

Hey guys im new here and i was hoping to get some info about these Kits on ebay. There not crazy cheap but better priced then anything els that is pretty much the same. Ive been looking at one thats 250 watts brushless motor that comes with a battery pack for $279. Now i know that crystalit and biox are the best but there way out of my price range. These kits on ebay seem right for me, but does anyone here own one? do they last? i used to sell these cheap plastic electric/peddle chinese scooters with the same style motor but a few of them got really slow (full charge) after a month. Sorry i have one more dumb question: whats better 250watt 350 watt 500watt? i dont want speed just reliability and longevity.

Thanks

First off, there are no dumb questions, feel free to ask anything...

Second.. it really depends if you have to negotiate hills and how steep could they get? I have a 500w bike and I always have to negotiate moderate to steep hills and it does pretty good. On the steep hills I assist with pedal power a lot, I would imagine a 250w motor may not be sufficient if you have to deal with lots of hills.

Depends on what you expect out of it. If you are interested in biking up a hill that you knew how to bike up before you got an e-bike, 250w will be enough.

If you want to be going 20mph on the uphills, 250w is not what you're looking for.

How far are you going? This makes a huge difference. If I had a commute of 5 miles or under, I would have gotten the cheapest thing available and charged it up at work.

...Some guy on an I-Zip was keeping pace with me the other day. In fact, he accelerated faster from the stops than me, and I had to catch up. He had a 350 Watt motor. I looked those up after going home. Bike with motor and battery can be below $1000.

My husband and I did the same thing. We were looking to get in inexpensively. We were going to buy the 250w motors off of eBay but after shipping it was the same price as the amped bikes kit less batteries.

I have never ridden a 250W e-bike but my 500W kit seems just about perfect for hills. We are local so we didn't have to pay for shipping and I am glad that we went this route. They were really helpful, the price is right and the quality is excellent. The other reason we did not buy from ebay is that that company is in Canada, we are in California. If there was a problem it would cost us more in shipping than a new kit.

I cant say that I wouldn't have loved any other kit because we only have these but we are hooked.

It has been over a month and I really hope the novelty doesn't wear off because we are riding everywhere.

ya see i live in canada so shipping would be cheaper. I looked at those amped kits but there $340 with no battery add a battery abd shipping and there 500+ for me. but im just wondering if the amped kit is of better quality. You said a new kit was the ones on ebay used?

Not sure what kits you are looking at on ebay, but I can vouch for Wilderness Energy kits. They come up frequently on ebay. Mine has worked great. It is a 400W brushed front motor. I powered it with 2 12v SLAs.

From reading this or other forums, these kits are pretty bomb-proof and last a long time.

You know, china is a big place, and lots of things are made there because it makes SENSE (and cents!), so what are you trying to say?

In one of the videos on the amped site there is a work bench with an old Golden motor kit on it lol. They actually offered them to us for $150 when we picked up our kits. They had 20 or more laying around. They said they refused to sell them on their website because they were junk.

I think Polanski is confused..

Heres the video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TspYpIskb6M&eurl

There is a huge difference two. The black and chrome motors dont have a double walled rim and also have different components. We almost bought a bunch off of them for friends but didnt want friends to get hurt or to have problems. But we did order my sister a new front hub kit.
