    E-trike video

    Posting this for informational purposes - it ain't art, that's for sure. Trying to focus in on the Cycle Analyst for screen shots is hard when using a video camera designed for right hand use in your left hand. My orange safety jacket reflections in the CA screen doesn't help. Having to steer 100# of trike w/240# of rider makes me wish for autopilot.
    The bike is ugly, I don't care, it is heavy, I'm working on that. Solar panels and sla batts are not the way to fly! 36v 12ah SLA driving a C'lyte X5 in cold weather leaves a bit to be desired in the range dept.

    I like it.
    I switched from 48volt to 72volts with my 404 hub motor, cuts the current draw, about 50lbs on 12ah SLA's though.

    That was cool to see the development process. I absolutely know what you mean in terms of the $$$ factor. These are not cheap to make from scratch.
    When I ride, the troubles just roll off my back.

    Cool project!

    If you want to add on a headlight that could run off the batteries in parallel on the super cheap try one of these:

    They have those at Home depot for about $15, way better deal than the halogen bike lights and also water proof, though you need to engineer some kind of system to secure it to the bike yourself.

    Saw ND's comment on my video

    Yeah, know about Ping - biggest problem is that his batteries are only rated 1.5C, and I'd like 3C to feel safe, as I know my C'lyte X5 draws because of the weight of my rig with the velobody on it (to say nothing of my weight!). Justin has NiMh 3C packs in Vancouver, and I'm trying to get up the nerve to make my own pack from a123 M1 cells. It's just the old dog - new tricks thing for me.
