I was at the show and missed that. I was looking for the Schwinn lineup of electric bikes also but there is so much in the hall that even with the map you get lost looking for certain things. I was totally unaware of the Cannondale connection to Schwinn however? Will have to go to Bicycle Retailer and see when that came about. Found it: http://www.bicycleretailer.com/news/newsDetail/628.html

New battery technology is always good and even baby steps in the right direction help in the end? 6,000 charge cycles is really good and sounds like plenty of amps too. Of course cost is an issue as usual but it is good to see a major brand name accepting this and hopefully shops across the land will stock them and sell them in large quantities.

I am afraid that these are only 250w engines though which satisfies the requirements for Euro and Asian distribution, but here in the states we can have up to 1,000w in some states and at least 500 in all. 250 just isn't enough for my needs. I hope that they will make the batteries available as a part though for a decent enough price, like say $250?

Yes, I agree 250w is not enough power. I even tried a 350w Giant and found it did not like some of Seattle's hills.

This was also reported December 24th on the BBC News Asia web site:

A 30 minute recharge time sounds pretty good.
LOL The End is Nigh (for 80% of middle class North Americans) - I sneer in their general direction.
