Project: solo 48v or 2-24 volt chain drive kit

Ok I have my hub kits down pat. I love my 48/1000 gearless kit. However Its time for me to try a chain drive kit. The plan is to make use of my lifpo4 48v/20ah battery. This limits me to 2 24volt motors or a single 48v. I can make most of the parts I cant buy. I have several bikes to mount it on. I think my full suspension GT is probably going to get this upgrade. While I love hub motors I would love to build a kit capable of winding out over 40mph on 48v. My biggest issue is finding a reliable retailer for parts. Specificly the motors, mounting brackets for the motors and the setup for the controler. Its a tiny bit more confusing with 2 motors. Any and all tips are welcome. I dont have anything on papaer aside from my battery specs so I am building from the battery down.

I suggest you check out the home builds on this forum and then post some questions there. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=28 Its members are very active and many have built their own custom non-hub motor e-bikes. Someone recently started a thread there on dual motor drives. Good luck, however, check with your state before building a e-bike that can travel above 20 MPH. You may find that you'll be required to register and insure it as a moped. Personally, I wouldn't want to go that fast. Make sure you upgrade components on your bike to handle that kind of added stress (especially the braking system).
