Heavy ebike
Hi All
I am new here and have an ebike that has 24" wheel. I have problems controling it as the front mounted battery is very heavy. n being 5.6feet height. Its no problems cycling alone but when i have a pillion, the bike gets shaky. would changing it to a 18" alloy ebike wheel 18X2.125 or 18x2.5 work? This i hope would shift the center of gravity lower. any pros or cons? please advise. thanks! |
What battery are you using? Changing your wheel size to improve your ride sounds drastic. Can you post some pics and information on your bike so we can disect your problem?

I do believe that relocating the battery to the rear would be your best bet. My battery is mounted on a front rack, however my battery doesn't weigh a lot.

hi
mine are SLA batteries. If theres pictures of how the end result would look, please attached them. I would have to be able to lock the batteries as they are prone to thefts. |
If you can't easily move the batteries... maybe it's worth upgrading to a lighter weight battery. SLAs are very heavy and that's not helping your situation. If you switch to NiMh or Li-Ion it will not only make the bike lighter and easier to handle, but they'll last much longer. You could probably get them inside that large battery compartment...
