Disc cover on a hub motor wheel?

I was thinking about getting a geared amped hub motor for the rear end of my front wheel drive recumbent.
The recumbent will be similar to the following except with a triangulated rear all steel.

I was hoping to put a disc cover on the rear wheel but didn't want to overheat the motor. Would only putting a disc cover over the spoked portion make it possible to do that? I may instead put a tailbox on it which would also cut some airflow but perhaps not as much. Anyone have any problems with covering up their hub motors?

Hub motors and controllers need some room to breathe so that they can dissipate heat because they will generate heat during load. Best not to cover either up too tightly.
