Disc cover on a hub motor wheel?
I was thinking about getting a geared amped hub motor for the rear end of my front wheel drive recumbent.
The recumbent will be similar to the following except with a triangulated rear all steel. http://www.zoxed.eu/images/zox/my_ZOX_side_nobricks.jpg I was hoping to put a disc cover on the rear wheel but didn't want to overheat the motor. Would only putting a disc cover over the spoked portion make it possible to do that? I may instead put a tailbox on it which would also cut some airflow but perhaps not as much. Anyone have any problems with covering up their hub motors? |
Hub motors and controllers need some room to breathe so that they can dissipate heat because they will generate heat during load. Best not to cover either up too tightly.
