loss of power on long slow hills(not terribly steep)

Overall I am pretty happy with my Cyclone 1200 watt motor with 48V battery, but I find on hills that are of any length it slows way down. Is this a function of the battery not being able to deliver enough current or is the limitation the motor? Any solutions?

Thanks,

Carlsbad Carl

my hub motor bike does the same thing. You need like 3000w of power I think to go up a hill without slowing down. My 5303 only puts out 1500w of power. I don't know how much yours would put out. Take the watts and multiply it by the current used and that will tell you how much power you are using. Or just look on your watt meter if you have one. I have a 35 amp controller so 35x 48volts = 1680 so my bike is capable of 1680 max power.

you may want to check your motor temp. I know that on my 500w cyclone with my low incline 4 mile hill, if I go full out my motor will overheat after about 2.5 miles. Taking it around 3/4 throttle fixes this issue. I'm sure that once I install my cooling fins I won't have this problem anymore.
