Lightbulb electrified longtail cargo bike project

Hello i am chris and i am a brand new forum member. My longtail cargobike project (a home made 'big dummy') has morphed into an electrified bike project, as this machine will really help us minimise car use. I want to do a 'stokemonkey' style system and have done quite a lot of nosing around (including some archives for this site). I want a system with power, longevity, durability and ease of operation. My current thinking is to purchase an off-the-shelf ~500 w hubmotor (crystalyte?) with controller and integrate into the frame similarly to stokemokey. A hubmotor to which i can mount sprockets on both sides would work best with my frame design and (IMHO) yield the best chain line.

Is there any experience, knowledge out here that can help me put together a solution?

thanks very much for any assistance
-chris

Welcome. I would suggest that you go to the non-hub motor forums at Endless Sphere. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/vie...4262c2313cd526 I think you could do better using an RC motor. Here's a photo from a member of those forums showing the RC motor he set up on his Yuba Mundo as well as the You Tube video he posted showing his Yuba in action with this motor. Good luck.
