I'm off to measure up at the weekend as my mum is after one to help her around the hills.. So I was going to order one for Xmas also a bike storage unt to keep it safe.. they are expensive bikes!! Would an elecy nomally be the same size as a traditional bike?? There are three sizes of bike storage units to choose from, I need to order the correct one.
Generally E-bikes are about the same size as normal bikes. If she already has a bike that she likes, you may consider saving money with an electric bike kit sold many places such as ampedbikes.com and electricrider.com. There are many more, just do a search for e-bike kits. You have to make sure her bike does not have aluminum forks. They need to be steel and also it's a good idea to install a torque arm for extra strength. Ampedbikes claims to have the easiest to install high quality kits. Most e-bike kit companies ofter a choice of front direct drive or rear geared motors. I have Ampedbikes front direct drive and I love it. Cost with torque arm $526.00 U.S. installed on a 26 inch Mens Mountain bike. These kits can be installed on almost any type of bike.
For some cheaper complete e-bikes there is http://www.cabbikes.com/. They have the lowest prices of any complete e-bike I have seen but I encourage you to shop around.
Also look at the E-Bike pictures thread in this forum. You will see many and see that none of them are larger than a normal bike with rear rack. ( unless they make something fancy like a three wheel bike or put a trailer on the bike.) http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-pictures-here.
