Thanking of buying new Electric bike some help needed

Hi all i just new to this forum and would like some help in buying a new electric bike.

(1)The bike i am thinking of buying is a Trek FX+ at £ 1.900 so my questions are has any
person on this forum got this bike and if so what do you think of it.

(2) If i do buy the bike and say 2 years on the the bike is on longer in production can spare parts still be got for the bike outside the firm that made the bike.

The reason i ask is that a friend bought a e bike about 5 years ago cost £ 950 and could not get a replacement battery when the bike was 5 years old any where for it so the bike was dumped.

Last of all what is the best E Bike on the market to day as it is very hard to know if your spending your money wisely

I think the fx+ is an excellent bike. There is one sticking point however, The electic system is a Bionx. While well made, they have choosen to design their system in a way that doesn't allow aftermarket componets to be used. If you have problems fixing it yourself is very limited. They will not sell you parts.

If your friend still has his bike what is it? Is it a Tidal Force? We may be able to help you get it going again. You wouldn't believe the advancements in batteries in just the last two years.

I would do a Google search for Electric Bikes or Electric Bicycles; lots of information out there. We have looked at Pedago and Prodeco (assembled in the US but possibly made with foreign parts) but have chosen to stay with our Schwinn World GSE but I would not recommend them due to poor Schwinn support. You could also read past posts on this topic in this Forum.

Best thing you can do is build your own e-bike, that way, you can always find spare parts and keep using it. Besides, if you build your own, it's going to be more powerful than one that you buy that's ready-made.
