Adding a throttle?

I have a Trek FX Ride Plus bike. Just for argument's sake, is there anyway to add a throttle control so I don't have to pedal?

Probably not..
The reason for the pedal assist more than likely is to keep it "legal" for a lot of places where you need the bike to be ONLY pedal assist..

To change it, you would need a new controller, however, the system from what I've seen is plug n play with the "control module" on the handlebars, so more than likely, that would be useless after changing..

I personally know nothing about your bike. But I have a hard time believing it can't be converted to have a throttle. The question is how difficult and expensive would it be. And of course are you capable of doing the conversion. I would recommend taking a look at this forum and maybe become a member and ask your question there. IF someonce can't answer your question there then no one can.

Thanks Bob. I appreciate the reference. I am definitely not capable of doing anything complicated and probably won't bother. I was just curious.

I also have an FX+. I tried using a BionX controller with a throttle built in to the controler. The BionX controler did work but the throttle did not work. I tried playing around with the codes and was not able to get it to work. I belive it was the Trek Bion X Battery that does not allow it.

You should check and make sure your Trek FX+ is set for performance. There are 3 settings your Trek Bion X system can be set as:

1. Low assist
2. Normal
3.Performance
The FX+ comes in mode 2{Normal**. There really is a big diiference between mode 2{Normal** and mode 3{performance**. You need to bring in to your Trek dealer to change the above settings.
Note: The above modes have nothing to do with the 4 assist modes.
