Throttle Question

The bike I am installing a kit on (my third electric + two previous gas versions) has a handlebar with a diameter of 25mm. I believe standard is 22mm (7/8"). Does anyone know of a thumb throttle that will work, or can be modified, to fit a larger diameter bar?

Nothing I buy ever fits. That is why I have a drawer full of stuff that will work to make things fit. Like, when I got my eBike kit, the battery took up all the space for both water bottle mounts. On a lark I bought another tire pump, a cheapo Bell. Well, the pump was worthless but I found out the mount that came with it would hold my good pump, off to the side. Yeah!

The console didn't fit with the hardware they sent along with the kit. I had to whip out my Dremel tool and carve out some mohagany making my own mount for that. Something else didn't fit my handlebar either. I looked in my drawer of crap and found a rubber sleeve that took up the 3mm of slack. I could have used an old popped tire tube too, but let's get riding!

Wait, my throttle is a solid ring with a tightening band inside. I had to take the handle grip off to slide it onto the bar from the end. Your problem sucks. See ya, wouldn't want to be ya!

I'm sure there is. But have you measured the handlebar at the ends where the throttle will be mounted? Handlebars are sized by the knurling that fits into the stem. They are usually a smaller diameter out by the ends. Handlebars are cheap. Buy a "standard" pair of handlebars and call it good.

The bike is a surely touring bike with bar end shifters. Changing the bars would be a problem ( changing shifters and bar stem). I will keep looking for an alternate throttle and possibly try to file 3 mm out of the inside of the throttle I have. Thanks for responding.

25.4mm is sort of standard, the bigger handlebar is 31.8mm. Most throttle should fit.

Hose clips would hold a throdle to any handle bar , I modify all cyclone twist throdles rights side to thumb on left ( not like motor bike but right hand needed for gears) with the stuff we buy here called NEED IT.
I'd cover hose clips with NEED IT to look tidy. Its an epoxy that moulds realy well ,
