PAS mode in EZip Trailz stopped working

any Ideas. bike is 3 weeks old, had worked up until now great, but this morning when getting on bike pas mode didn't work even when you use throttle, the tag mode still works, I looked in the controller box everything seemed connected. I also looked at the sensor on the flywheel and it moves with you peddle. I talked with currie 3 times. second time, guy said check wire connections with a meter, sorry I don't own one, or do I know how to use or read one, 3rd guy thought it was the pas/tag switch and is sending a new one, anyone had similar experience like this.

There's maybe 4 things that can fail to cause your problem, 1. A bad switch, 2. A failure in the controller it's self, 3. A simple bad connection ether at the controller, switch or on the counter sensor and now my favorite 4. The counter sensor moved away from the magnetic disk. If it were I I'd start by doing a 3 minute check of all the connections I mentioned (pas switch, pas connecter at the controller, counter sensor at the controller and at the sensor it's self. I would then check the gap between the pas counter sensor and the magnetic disk. While you are there be sure all the magnets are in place. The sender should be as close to the magnetic disk as possible without actually touching it. Like I said my bet is on the gap being the problem. After that I would contact Currie again and tell them to start sending out all the parts. It's not your job to figure out their bikes failure. They have always sent me anything I asked for while under warranty. But you will get hit with a high shipping charge.

today I looked inside the controller box at pas connecter and the sensor connection in the controller box I reconnected both to make sure they weren't lose the wires looked fine connection wise, I took off a little panel on the pas/tag switch I didn't seen anything disconnected. so that leaves the switch being faulty which is what currie is sending me, or the sensor & magnet, Im not sure what the disc is suppose to look like it seems really close to the sensor, and how do you move those items to get them closer, not sure what to look for their and when you say all magnets how many are their.

Bob thanks for the advice I played around with the sensor & disc just bending a little and moving the disc a little and low & behold it started working. does this happen a lot? I still don't understand what caused it in the first place why it became spread apart but thanks for your advice. But know I have currie sending me some parts, I believe at no charge, they never asked for any money for shipping. But I feel a little leary going any distance it would be long ride back cause I have 2 batterys so I can go some distance.

Glad you got it fixed. Honestly, my wife and I both hated the Pas so I completely remove it from both bikes. So I can't really say how often this happens. I would say it was likely on thectracfone"edge" of working in the first place and vibration finished off for you. So with luck it will be fine not. You can not be to close with the senser as long as it's not hitting. Is it possible you bumped it with your foot? I really wouldn't worry if if fails on a long ride. The worse that you have to do is turn off the switch and turn the throttle which should be ubeffected by the Pas. Bob
