Wiring up a dynamo hub
I ordered a Shutter Precision hub, and it should be arriving soon. Then I can rebuild my front wheel and wire up the headlight/taillight that are already here.
In theory, it should be easy enough to have a switch, allowing me to direct where I want the power from my hub to go. Then, I could charge my phone during the day when I don't need the headlight. Has anybody actually done that? I bet there are DIY kits for just that sort of thing, if I knew where to look.

Yes, there are many ways to do this! Here's a post from last year that I though was really interesting.

I knew there would be something out there; I just wasn't finding it.
That thread you linked should absolutely be made sticky. The other stickies are centered around lights, and I think this is also a big topic.

Dynamo hub (LED) headlights have a switch on them you turn off the light . and then plug your devise into the 6vAC to 5vDC converter that you also have to Buy.
its not that difficult they make it all simple for maximizing sales .
Pg 22, 23 https://www.bumm.de/fileadmin/user_up...5__English.pdf an example . theres others All wanting a share of the Market for Phone addicts
there's more companies, you can search for them on your Phone.
6v_ 3w is all you got , dont expect a charge rate like plugging into the mains.

You don't need a switch.
Twist the wires from the hub to the light and the phone (AC/DC converter) all together. Unplug your phone when you don't need to charge it. (or leave it plugged in....it doesn't matter) or turn off the light in the day light.

Edit: Holy crap! That E-WERK thing is $250 on Amazon.ca! Maybe I can just plug my phone into a sack of potatoes.
