Update MapMyRide = erase old data?

I started to update the MapMyRide on my Android smartphone (from v3.5.1 to v3.8.1) but it alerted me that the update would delete all my old data. This seems ridiculously short-sighted, so I though I'd ask here if this was the case. And is it just the local data, or does it also delete the rides that have been transferred to my MapMyRide online account?

If it's just the local data, I suppose I can live with that. But if it's going to zap my rides logged online, then I suppose I'll be shopping for a new ride logging app. The lack of portability of the MapMyRide data is a real PITA anyway.

The answer is ...neither.

I rolled the die and installed the update (after manually copying all the data, j-i-c). Despite the ominous warning (above), both my local data and the data in my online account survived unscathed.

Go figure.
