how do you guys know for sure the led is different? i can't find any data on this not even on the b&m site. the old cyo is very bright as it is & if i buy the new light i want a brighter led for sure as well not just revamped optics... i'm curious if it is in fact different i wonder just how much brighter it really is...
the daytime running lights are cool though. if anybody here has the one with daytime running lights does the headlight with the senso function also control the taillight as well? i got a b&m toplight led light on the back of my bike.....
are the daytime running lights pretty bright in the daytime & noticable? seems to me you can just simply run the regular light as well all the time. i can even do this with the old light as i have a dyno hub...

the lights on peter's site seem to be a little overexposed. the person who did the videos on you tube did both & seems to have the same camera settings with each light unlike when you see pics from 2 different people with obviously different camera settings which show different results with each light...

b&m cyo premium test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCay6MP0fmM
is it me or does the older cyo's beam look brighter? open each test in it's own window, flip back & forth & watch each at the same time. the old light's beam whiler smaller looks bighter in most situations & in bright light it's less drowned out by street lights than the premium. the old cyo does throw some stray light near the bike & to the sides that the films don't show.
It's totally fair to ask the source, but my source for my opinion is owning and using both the older Cyo and the new Schmidt Edelux II in real life (which the Cyo Premium is based off of, it claims to put out 10% more light but is otherwise identical in output).
The Edelux II is definitely a little brighter than the old Cyo, and much wider as well.
Most likely the video thing is caused by the camera adjusting it's exposure settings during the video.
If you want other confirmation, you can search for "peter white dynamo beam shots" and you should be able to find the old Cyo shots and the new Schmidt Edelux II shots taken at the exact same exposure settings.
But I know for sure from personal experience with both lights, not just from reading.

(old) Cyo < (old) eDelux < new Luxos U or eDelux II
I haven't ridden with anyone who has the new Cyo T.

and the 3rd LED is the bright one that comes on with the wheel rotation .
the toplight Line taillight comes on promptly with the least bit of wheel rotation , and has a longer standlight duration when stopped.

The new LED is the Oslon flat black. Quite different from the ancient XRE in the old model.
Oslon Black Flat LED for automotive front lighting offers low thermal resistance and high light output at high currents - LEDs

also is the premium light housing any larger than the original cyo? they advertise it has a revised switch so that's why I ask. my cyo is in a tight place & if I decide to upgrade I don't want any issues. as much as I like my old cyo & it's brightness if the new one is really brighter & at the same time wider it must be an awesome light. seems to me though that every pic & video on the net showing a comparison between the old & new light seems to show the spread out beam a little dimmer than the smaller beam.

The Schmidt Edelux uses the main light as it's standlight, but it's not great because I think the standlight was designed for smaller led's giving the Schmidt a much shorter standlight time.

i wonder how bright these lights can get. i mean i wonder if they will come out with an even brigher one. i realize that with a 6 volt 3 watt dynamo the power is limited, but there is also 12 volt 6 watt dynamos...

Not to add much to this discussion, other than to add that I design, fabricate and now sell dynamo-related components and installation parts via my website (in my signature).

You mean the latest Cyo Premium with the same reflector design as the Edelux?
I expect it is made for their needed dimensions , since CAD designs are so easy to transmit ,
to other German Towns and around the globe ..
the LED in the top, facing down, to the reflector.

mine was $70.00 + $15.00 for shipping, not bad. i think the wider beam will come in handy for those rides in the dark parks & dark country. not that the original cyo was bad, but the wider beam comes in handy for those tight turns. will post updates when i get it hooked up & running...

I just ordered this taillight to go with the new cyo premium: B M Tail Light for Luggage Carrier Toplight View Plus Brake Tec | eBay
it has that cool brake light function. can't wait to see this work. I seen the you tube video of the light & it's pretty cool! does anybody here use this light?

mister paulrivers since you already have the iq cyo premium senso I was wondering if the headlight turns on the taillight when the headlight comes on at night with the senso function. how many wires does the cyo premium have to hookup? i'm waiting for my premium to come in from Germany. it's been a week & a half & soon it should be here I imagine...
right now i'm running a shimano hub dynamo with that old nexus switch. remember those? the nexus switch provides the senso function which turns on the system at night. my old cyo isn't a senso light. I might just eliminate the old nexus switch since the headlight will now have that function, but I need to know if it turns on the rear taillight also. I have an older b&m led toplight. i'm also upgrading my taillight to the new one with that brake light function which looks really cool in addition, it's much brighter which uses 2 led's vs the 1 in my old light...

The tail light has it's own standlight separate from the front light, turning off the front light leaves the rear light on until it either runs out of standlight, or if it's the topline plus you press a certain button that turns the tail light off. It comes back on automatically as soon as the front dynamo light comes on.

I'm afraid I have the Schmidt Edelux II, not actually the Cyo Premium. I don't know specifically about the senso as I never use it - I know that when I turn on the headlight the tail light automatically gets power. You could also just leave it on all the time.
