speed, miles

Looking for a simple bike computer to measure speed and miles. Anything decent available on Amazon that someone has here?

I was happy with the Cateye Strada Wireless before I purchased a Garmin. If you have a smartphone, you can install the Strava app and get stats for free. But you probably won't get real time data.

Been using this one for a year. I bought the first one from Target but they no longer sell this one. I bought a second one from Blain Farm & Fleet. They were very nice and great service. Google them.

^This.
Have the same one on a hybrid bike, tells speed, distance, average speed, time, temp .... & rather worthless calories & fat burned. Total odometer too. Still on original battery after 3 years, probably time to change it. Small, cheap, & accurate.

I have a NOS Sigma 400 (not sure of the exact model ID) . No buttons, just speed and distance constantly displayed. PM me if interested.

Any comp will do for that.

I have a comp I bought for $4 shipped on eBay that works, my only complaint is that you can't pre-set the odometer to over 9999 miles.

For long term durable, I like the Planet Bike Protege. The 5.0 is basic functionality, the 9.0 has more bells on.

I`m leaning toward that one I think. Found a article online for how to stem mount it

The manual that came with the computer lists settings for various tires sizes. I actually measured mine and it was very close to their settings. But I wanted it to as close as possible. The calorie things are I think useless. But all the other functions are good. And for that price it is hard to find a computer that has a temperature reading which I really like.

The Giant escape has 700c tires. I`m just confused because the manual says 700c/27inch as an option. I thought 700c was 29 inch.

That is confusing. I thought that 700c was close to 26 but not sure? I saw a chart somewhere that listed all the tires sizes, 700/32, 700/28...
If I find it I will post a link.

I had several of the inexpensive basic magnetic "computers" and found all of them tracked distance fairly well but would often be inaccurate over the long distance. Because the unit may not be able to be set at the exact tires circumference an error of a fraction to more than an inch will eventually add up in distance miscalculations, not much but enough. I went with a GPS driven device to avoid this issue and also to keep track of where I was going on my adventures.

I have a Garmin Edge 200, I got it for less than $100, it relies on GPS and record your routes as well as show and record your speed, distance and times. I import the data into SportTracks software. I often share routes with a few other riders and the GPS data comes in handy for that.

Yeah I'm not sure, so I just measured mine also. Came out to 2162.
