If you read up on LED lighting you'll find a lot of concerns and complaints about it in other non-biking areas as well. It's not just the color "temperature", but the how much led lighting can differ from the sun in how much of each color of light it puts out.

It's also always possible that different people's eyeballs and brains handle it fairly differently as well.

The nitecore lights are priced very well. Ive had mine almost a full year with numerous drops, bumps and dings. I use mine mainly on my farm but the multiple levels of light is nice. I typically use the 900 lumen setting but the strobe settings are useful also. An added bonus is its a tactical light so heaven forbid i need to use it as one i can. My only issue is that in extreme cold (0-15°F) the batteries wear quick but i cant complain about much else. The crazy thing about lights is at some point (around $50) you can get a good, robust light.
I have a Fenix i loved. I used it for inspecting cargo in all climates and it was great. Only gripe is it eventually got overpowered by my nitecore.

Makes no difference to me, so I won't worry about it.

If you need the light to run a long time at night then get a dynamo system, if you only need it for a short time but want a long battery run time then the Busch & Muller Ixon Core IQ is pretty good at 5 hours on high and 20 on low; and it runs on 4 AA batteries which means you could carry spare bats in your seat bag as long as the spare bats meet voltage and amp hour ratings of the original bats.
